Network and Firewall Engineer (m/f/d) - 100% Remote
Your Mission:
We are seeking a highly skilled Network and Firewall Engineer to join our team and take ownership of configuring and maintaining our network and firewall systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, implementing, and integrating network and firewall solutions into existing infrastructures. This role requires strong technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to ensure the security and reliability of our network infrastructure.
Your daily tasks:
- Integrate new network and firewall solutions into existing infrastructure, ensuring compatibility and minimal disruption to operations.
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, and access points, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement and manage firewall solutions to protect our network from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.
- Monitor network traffic and security events, conduct vulnerability assessments, and implement security measures to safeguard against cyber threats.
- Identify and resolve network and firewall issues in a timely manner, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, security policies, and procedures. Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and compliance status as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure that network and firewall solutions align with organizational goals. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and recommendations regarding network security and performance.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in network engineering and firewall administration roles.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including NAT, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
- Hands-on experience with firewall technologies, such as OPNsense, Sophos.
- Experience with network monitoring and security tools, such as Wireshark.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Industry certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP, are preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
