Energy Alliance – Oilseed and Grain Processing Waste as Renewable Energy Sources

As the world transitions towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, the demand for renewable energy continues to grow. One promising solution is to use waste materials from oilseed and grain processing for energy production.

To address this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Energy Alliance organized a webinar on May 04, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Oilseed and Grain Processing Waste as Renewable Energy Sources”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by our moderator, Mr. Nasrullah Ali who is the coordinator of Energy Alliance.

The webinar commenced with our keynote speakers, Dr. Ikechi Agbugba, PhD, an Agribusiness Researcher & Activist, and Mr. Horst A. Unterlechner, Managing Director at iRCB Biogas. We also had Ms. Reham Yehia, Business Development Manager at Baramoda Company, as a panelist for today’s webinar.

During the webinar, the speakers talked about converting organic biomass into biogas through fermentation. The speakers discussed the potential environmental benefits of using oilseed and grain processing waste for energy production, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable waste management practices.

However, the process is slow and requires a large footprint. It is also considered a “dirty, smelly, manual, and sensitive” process. Moreover, the effectiveness of this approach depends on factors such as the specific waste streams and conversion technology used.
We want to thank our experienced speakers for their informed insights on this topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Nasrullah Ali for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Energy Alliance webinar!
