Food, Farming and Fisheries Alliance -Robotization of Agricultural Production

Agriculture is an essential and continuously growing economic activity throughout history. The implementation of robotics and computer technology has brought about significant changes in the agricultural production industry, resulting in a shift towards a new era of automation.
To address this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Food, Farming, and Fisheries Alliance organized a webinar on June 30, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Robotization of Agricultural Production”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the speaker and panelist by our moderator, Farhan Iqbal who is the coordinator of the Food, Farming, and Fisheries Alliance.

The keynote speaker for the webinar was Mr. Walter Haefeker, Honorary President of the European Professional Beekeepers Association (EFBA), Germany. The other panelist was Ikechi Agbugba, PhD, Agribusiness Activist & Researcher.

During the webinar, the speakers highlighted the progression of Modern Agriculture, which began with the utilization of tools and advanced through the adoption of machinery, chemical processes, biotechnology, and eventually digitalization. They emphasized that this evolution marked significant milestones in agricultural practices. Additionally, the speakers delved into the distinction between chemical plant protection and digital plant protection, shedding light on how these approaches differ in terms of their techniques and methodologies.

Moreover, the webinar also focused on the role of policy making and government in relation to these advancements. The speakers discussed how governments play a crucial role in shaping agricultural policies that encourage the adoption of new technologies and practices. They emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment through regulations and incentives, enabling farmers to embrace digital solutions and benefit from their potential.

We want to thank our speakers for their informed insights on the topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Farhan Iqbal for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree Certificates to the speakers.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Food, Farming, and Fisheries Alliance webinar!
