Power-to-X: Technologies Integrating Different Sectors

Power-to-X technologies play a pivotal role in integrating diverse sectors by converting surplus renewable energy into various forms, such as hydrogen, electricity, and fuels. This integration facilitates a seamless transition towards a sustainable and interconnected energy ecosystem.

To delve into this dynamic topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Energy Alliance organised a webinar on March 07, 2024. The topic under discussion was, “Power-to-X: Technologies Integrating Different Sectors”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organisation and a formal introduction of the panellists by Muhammad Umer Afzal, who is the coordinator of the Energy Alliance.

The speakers for event were:
· Namratha Nair, Renewable Energy Consultant,
· Thomas Schied, Director Industrial Clients & Energy Market,
·      Dr. Ikechi Agbugba, PhD, PETS Advocate & Pioneer at BRECR.

During the webinar, experts explored the forefront of energy innovation, discussing Power-to-X (P2X), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and the criteria for classifying hydrogen as green energy. The session highlighted P2X’s potential in converting electricity into renewable energy forms and the role of PPAs in promoting direct investments in renewable projects.

The panellists examined the economic and feasibility aspects of P2X, the regulatory impacts on green hydrogen production, and its contributions to decarbonization and environmental preservation. Moreover, Dr. Ikechi Agbugba specifically focused on green hydrogen’s role in reducing carbon emissions, underlining the importance of supportive regulations and technology in achieving a sustainable energy transition.

A sincere thanks to each speaker for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. To all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions made this session interactive and great.

The unwavering support of our Board Members, including Arseny Tarasov and Marius Rabbe, plays a pivotal role in the success of our initiatives. Your dedication and commitment are truly valued.

A special thanks, too, to Umer for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panellists.
