Usage of technologies to empower Africa’s women will provide a solid enablement tool-set for women to establish autonomy and significantly impact economic growth across Africa. In addition, it is imminent that an inclusive future will be formed where Africa’s women have the ability to attain and to access economic opportunity. In saying this, there are a number of challenges that need to be confronted in support of women’s determination for empowerment.
As for energy also technologies essential for the development of other sectors should be usable and accessible by all women of Africa living in both, urban and rural spaces. In saying this, the most value is found in and allocated to those technologies that offer relevant and sustainable solutions. In addition, the ‘fit for purpose’ concept applies and thus a deeper understanding of the ‘needs’ exists, and an open flow of communication must be maintained. Furthermore, socio-economic factors will continue to impact the success of empowerment.
In our discussion today the Africa Chapter of the EU Tech Chamber brings together experts from Africa and Europe to make use of lessons learnt and to develop key recommendations in order to help the African continent achieve its SDG 5 & 7 objectives.
