23 April – EU Tech Chamber Environment Council – Topic: Combatting our Waste Problem – Reduce, Reuse Recycle

Combatting our Waste Problem – Reduce, Reuse Recycle: Unless treated properly, waste never goes away – it haunts us in the ground and in the sea. Depending on the materials used, waste can stay in our ecosystem for thousands of years – causing harm to all living things. Consumers typically think they only buy products, and that packaging is not part of their purchase (someone else will sort out the waste problem). Manufacturers and retailers need to protect their products from damage and contamination, so packaging is needed. How do we reduce waste and increase reuse and recycling when we know these challenges exist? How do we get to a Circular Economy where there is zero waste and human society mimics natural ecosystems?
