SDG #5: Gender Equality

“With great technology comes great responsibility”
The European Technology Chamber (EUTECC) believes that technology obliges and should serve a greater good, hence our mission is to effectively use technology to solve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In our series, we are looking at all SDGs individually and today, we focus on SDG 5.

Goal #5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Gender inequalities are still deep-rooted in every society. Women suffer from lack of access to decent work and face occupational segregation and gender wage gaps. In many situations, they are denied access to basic education and health care and are victims of violence and discrimination. Women are also under-represented in political and economic decision-making processes.

How can technology help to ensure this goal? From opening routes into education, supporting women and girls in education, innovative ways for childcare, flexible working and remote working and equal pay, there are numerous ways in how innovative technologies can help address the major obstacles and ensure that girls and women have equal chances in life.
