APAC Alliance – Emerging Tech Trends in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia has embraced the digital revolution across industries including retail, banks, manufacturing, finance, transportation, e-commerce, healthcare etc. The pandemic has even greatly accelerated digital transformation in this region. More unicorns are expected to emerge in this region, which will positively affect the regional and local economies.

To address this subject, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) APAC Alliance organised a much-needed seminar on February 23, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Emerging Tech Trends in Southeast Asia”.

The webinar was moderated by Ms. Judith Yong, coordinator of APAC Alliance, who gave a formal introduction of the panelists and a brief overview of the organization.

The webinar started off with a presentation by our keynote speaker, Mr. Thang Nguyen-Quoc, Lead Economist in the Singapore Consulting team at Oxford Economics. Followed by the keynote speaker, the panelists for today’s webinar were:

·        Mr. Alexander Lott 骆琨达, Head of China Desk at OCO Global,
·        Mr. Paolo Ottaviani 齐圣, Founder of InnovAsia,
·        Mr. Victor Yap, Former Tech Editor, PCMag and Tech Trends Specialist.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers delved into the emerging technology trends in Southeast Asia, including the growth of e-commerce, fintech, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy. However, they also acknowledged the trend of protectionism in the region, which could hinder the progress of cross-border collaboration and innovation.

Despite this, the speakers highlighted the signing of several trade agreements between countries in the region, indicating a willingness to overcome protectionist tendencies and promote economic integration.

These agreements could potentially pave the way for greater technological cooperation and the development of more advanced and inclusive digital ecosystems in Southeast Asia.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Ms. Judith Yong for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next APAC Alliance webinar on March 30, 2023, about “How to Grow Your Business in APAC Region?”
