APAC Alliance – Greening APAC Cities: Moving Towards Sustainable Urbanization

In the ever-evolving landscape of urban development, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is at the forefront of a transformative shift. Cities within this region are increasingly embracing eco-friendly practices and sustainable urbanization.
To address this subject, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) APAC Alliance organised a webinar on October 26, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Greening APAC Cities: Moving Towards Sustainable Urbanization”.

The webinar was moderated by Mr. Muhammad Ahad Zaka, coordinator of APAC Alliance at EUTECH, who gave a formal introduction of the panelists and a brief overview of the organization.

The panelists for today’s webinar were:

·        Ms. Mariana Duarte, Global Account Director & Chair of SRI WG at Johnson Controls International,
·        Mr. Rafael Navarro, Sustainability Expert & Lead M&E at Johnson Controls International,
·        Dr. Swapnil Dubey, Principal Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.

The webinar provided a comprehensive insight into the strategies and initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprint and effectively tracking progress towards NetZero goals. The overarching theme of the discussion encompassed two pivotal areas of focus.

The speakers highlighted the importance of optimizing building performance to achieve significant reductions in energy costs, carbon emissions, and labor expenses. They also emphasized the significance of establishing baseline energy performance as a starting point and employing strategies to minimize emissions and energy expenditures. These measures are integral to the global commitment to combat climate change and attain sustainability targets.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Muhammad Ahad Zaka for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next APAC Alliance webinar!
