The growth potential of emerging markets such as Asia Pacific is identified as high potential market for international expansion. The diversity of cultural languages, economics and regulatory policies presents a series of challenges and opportunities when expansion businesses in APAC region.

To address this subject, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) APAC Alliance organised a much-needed seminar on January 26, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “How to Start a Business in the APAC Region?”

The webinar was moderated by Ms. Judith Yong, coordinator of APAC Alliance, who gave a formal introduction of the panelists and a brief overview of the organization.

The webinar started off with a presentation by our keynote speaker, Mr. Hans Jörg Emmert, Consultant in Global IT Strategy for Cloud. Then, we had Ms. Celine Ong, Entrepreneur & Consultant of Omni-channel Marketing and the final speaker was Ms. Kathryn Read, International Sales and Marketing Consultant.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers discussed the infrastructure of Information Technology sector in the APAC region. Some of the key points were:
·        Cultural differences and Language,
·        Different understanding of services,
·        Regulations, cross-border services, and data security.

Moreover, they talked about the understanding of legal compliances in the region as it is a crucial step before jumping in on the expansion. Apart from legal requirements, understanding the local market as well as knowing the specific industry and target market in the APAC region is essential.
