Platforms shape how their users orchestrate digital resources to create social connections and perform market transactions. Digital platforms typically rely on big data stored in the cloud to perform algorithmic computations that facilitate user interactions.

To take a closer look at the topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Digital Transformation Alliance organized a webinar on February 16, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “The Importance of Digital Platforms in Digital Transformation”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by Mr. Frederik Simon Pierre Tchoungui who is the coordinator of the Digital Transformation Alliance.

The webinar started off with our first speaker, Mr. Jonas Grahm, Owner of Orbiting Portfolio AB. Then we had Mr. Jürgen Rösch, Digital & Platform Economist, followed by Ms. Aida S., Global Senior Manager, Performance Marketing at Tive. Lastly, we had Mr. Gary Gallagher, Director of Product Management at major international brands.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers discussed the significance of digital platforms by providing a foundation for integrating different digital technologies such as cloud computing, big data analytics, mobile computing, social media, and artificial intelligence. Digital platforms play a crucial role in digital transformation by enabling organizations to build, manage, and scale digital products and services.

They also discussed some challenges related to digital transformation, including maturity & competences, leadership & communication, and change management (incentives).
