Digital transformation is the process of incorporating digital technology into a business to improve efficiency and create new opportunities. It is referred as the key to unlocking sustainable value in our economies and societies. Digital transformation and sustainability are often viewed as mutually exclusive.

To take a closer look at each of them and understand exactly how they can make a huge difference, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Environment Alliance organized a webinar on October 07, 2022. The topic under discussion was, “Digital Transformation: The Key to Sustainability?”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by our moderator, Mr. Salvatore Cavallaro who is also the coordinator of the Environment Alliance.

The two honorable panelists who joined today were, Mr. Antti Kosunen, CEO and co-founder of Earthster.org and Gabriel Madero, Chief Digital & Innovation Officer and co-founder of MIRAIICO.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers emphasized on the integration of digital technology into businesses in order to add a sustainable value in our societies. Furthermore, they also discussed the advantages of adding sustainable models as a source for income and costs saving.

Digital sustainability enables better decision making and increases energy efficiency and builds a clean energy future. Secondly, it is resource efficient as it reduces environmental impacts by optimizing resource use and reducing waste. The panelists gave an in-depth analysis explaining digital transformation and sustainability through their knowledge and real-life experiences.
