As the global population grows and industrialization continues to expand, water pollution remains a significant threat to our planet’s health. It is pertinent to raise awareness of the issue and inspire meaningful action towards sustainable water management practices.
To know more about the topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Environment Alliance organized a webinar on April 07, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Water Pollution: Sources, Impacts and Solutions”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by Mr. Jacopo Frattini, who is the coordinator of the Energy Alliance.

The first panelist for today’s webinar was Ms. Noura Abdo, Founder & Consultant at Our Climate. Next, we had Mr. Kai-Uwe Buerger, CEO & Founder of A1 Water & Energy Group, and lastly, we had Ms. Ivana Čeković Eškenazi, Head Of Communications at Water Science Policy.

During the webinar, the speakers highlighted various challenges related to water, including water resources, climate change, water scarcity, water pollution, and water-related diseases. They also discussed the harmful impurities found in water such as bacteria, dissolved gases like ammonia and carbon dioxide.

The webinar also covered radioactivity in water, which can be caused by pollutants from sources such as nuclear reactors, laboratories, and hospitals. Some of the contaminants found in drinking water sources occur naturally, such as radioactive radium and uranium, which are present in trace amounts in soil and rock and can dissolve in water. These contaminants can be harmful to aquatic life, soil, fisheries, and human health.
