Food, Farming and Fisheries Alliance -SDG12: Optimizing Food Value Chains with Big Data

The advent of big data offers new breaks for food businesses to deal with emerging risks and operational challenges. While big data is a well-recognized method in supply chain management, academic research on its application in the food ecosystem is still lagging.

To address this issue, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Food, Farming and Fisheries Alliance organised a webinar on September 30, 2022. The topic under discussion was, “Optimizing Food Value Chains with Big Data”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the three panelists by our moderator, Dr. Igor V. Gladkov who is also the Director of the Food, Farming and Fisheries Alliance.

The webinar started off with our first panelist, Dr. Tomaz Suklje, co-founder and senior engineering expert at QLECTOR, Germany. Second in line was Dr. Ikechi Agbugba, PhD, an agribusiness activist and researcher, then, we had Mr. Chinonso Agbo, a climate and environment specialist from Nigeria.

The fourth speaker for today’s webinar was Ms. Gillian Santos, founder of Anihan Technologies which is a Pre- Seed B2B Agritech startup in Philippines. Finally, the last speaker of the day was Mr. Arno Bruder, director of the Upper Bavaria Beekeeper School.
While addressing the webinar, the speakers talked about the key challenges to scale-up and sustain the growth of this sector. All of them also agreed on the point that clean tech innovation has emerged as key driver to efficient market operations.

Another interesting point that was discussed in the webinar was about the emergence of big data as a tool to improve the designs of food supply chains and enhance customer service systems.
Undoubtedly, the application of big data can unlock various advantages and sustain the delivery of safer food products to consumers.

Biggest thanks to our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Thank you to Dr. Igor Giadkov for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists. The most of all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comment, compliments, and questions.
Stay tuned for our next Food, Farming and Fisheries Alliance webinar on October 28, 2022, about “Achieving Ecology and Quality through Organic Agriculture”.
