IoT Alliance – Smart Governance Involving IoT: Between Digitalization and Regulations

How do you digitize the work of the judiciary, the legislature, or the executive? What do governments and voters have to consider when they want to offer the possibility of electronic voting? What are the data security requirements of Smart Governance with IoT?

To answer these questions, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Internet of Things (IoT) Alliance organized a webinar on February 17, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Smart Governance Involving IoT – Between Digitalization and Regulation”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by Mr. Frederik Simon Pierre Tchoungui who is the coordinator of the Digital Transformation Alliance.

The keynote speaker for today’s event was Mr. Guy Birenbaum, Co-Founder of Smart Global Governance. The other three panelists were Mr. Omar Gharaibeh, Smart City Governance Advisor at Royal Commission for Riyadh City, KSA, Mr. Rajeshwar Bachu, Founder of Zero-Carbon GmbH, and Mr. Sahid Sesay, CEO of SmartConnect IOT.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers discussed the challenges in implementing smart governance using IoT due to concerns related to privacy, data security, and regulation. This requires the development of regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity measures, and data privacy laws that protect individuals’ rights while promoting innovation and progress.

Moreover, the panelist talked about smart governance using IoT as an opportunity to improve current governance systems and to build a more responsible, ethical, and sustainable society.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Frederik Tchoungui for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next IoT Alliance webinar on March 24, 2023, on “Status and Trends of AI Engineering and Machine Learning”.
