Mobility Alliancce- Technology Transfer & Cultural Transformations for a Human-Centered Mobility

The advancement of technology and the need for sustainable mobility has brought about a transformation in the way we think about transportation. The shift towards a human-centered approach to mobility requires not only the transfer of technology but also a cultural transformation.

To take a closer look on this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Mobility Alliance organized a webinar on March 21, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Technology transfer and cultural transformations for a human-centered mobility”.

The webinar started off with an opening speech by Bernd Mattner who is the chair of Mobility Alliance. Next, we had Serdar Yucel, director of the Mobility Alliance, who gave a short overview of the organization and moderated the event.

The keynote speaker for today’s webinar was Luke Ward, Head of Projects & Growth, EMEA, Liftango. The other two panelists were Emanuel Hammer, Manager in Smart Mobility, Eraneos Switzerland AG, and James Pollard, Behavioral Design Lead, Future Mobility, WSP.

During the webinar, the speakers highlighted the importance of transportation in achieving several of the UN SDGs. They also acknowledged the transport sector’s potential to be a significant contributor towards these goals. However, they emphasized that the challenges faced by the transport sector were not only technical but also social and creative in nature.

Moreover, the speakers emphasized the critical role of design in ensuring that transport goes beyond its functional purpose and positively impacts various factors. They stressed the need to prioritize people in designing transport networks both presently and in the future.

The panelists also emphasized the need for a cultural shift to support new transportation technologies and modes of mobility. This transformation requires changing attitudes, behaviors, and social norms towards sustainable and equitable transportation options. To achieve this shift, the speakers suggested the implementation of education and awareness-raising campaigns.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Bernd Mattner for opening the webinar and Serdar Yucel for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Mobility Alliance webinar on April 18, 2023, about “Impact in the Transformation of Mobility Through International Collaboration”.
