Mobility Alliance – How could Road Usage Charging impact Mobility Management ?

Road user charging is a subject of particular interest in many parts of the world now. With the advent of high-speed, nonstop electronic toll collection, road usage charging in urban areas becomes a possibility.

To take a closer look on this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Mobility Alliance organized a webinar on December 20, 2022. The topic under discussion was, “How Could Road Usage Charging Impact Mobility Management?”

The webinar started off with an opening speech by Bernd Mattner who is the chair of Mobility Alliance. Next, we had Serdar Yucel, director of the Mobility Alliance, who gave a short overview of the organization and moderated the event.

The keynote speaker for today’s webinar was Bob McQueen, CEO of Bob McQueen and Associates. The three panelists who joined us were Frederic Bruneteau, Managing Director at PTOLEMUS Consulting Group, Nils Karn, CEO and Founder of Mitigant, and Xavier Serra, CEO of Eclipse Partners.

During the webinar, the speakers discussed several aspects of road user charging including policy, technology, and business models. They discussed some important mobility objectives and applications during the webinar.

Moreover, the keynote speaker discussed some key elements of traffic management such as response plan evaluation, critical network location monitoring, and CCTV camera refocusing. The webinar concluded with practical advice for those considering the possibility of road users charging as a strategy for the management and revenue generation.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Bernd Mattner for opening the webinar and Serdar Yucel for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Mobility Alliance webinar on January 17, 2023, about “Sustainable Mobility from a Global Perspective”.
