Mobility Alliance – MaaS – Opportunites and Constraints of Fleet Management

The primary goal of fleet management is to maximise efficiency, productivity, and safety while minimizing costs associated with vehicle use. It often involves the use of technology and specialised software to monitor and control various aspects of a fleet, including vehicle maintenance schedules, fuel consumption, driver behavior, and route optimization. Effective fleet management plays a crucial role in industries where transportation is a key component, such as logistics, delivery services, and public transportation.

To take a closer look into this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Mobility Alliance organised a webinar on October 17, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “MaaS – Opportunities and Constraints of Fleet Management.
The webinar started off with an opening speech and a brief overview of the Alliance by Mr. Ahad Zaka – Coordinator of the Mobility Alliance – who also gave an overview of the organisation and an introduction to each panellist.

The panellists for today’s webinar were:
·        Mr. John Tidmarsh, Sustainable Mobility Expert- Founder of VAI Capital & EUTECH Mobility Alliance Board Member
·        Mr. Varun Goel – Business Lead (e-Mobility) for Handover

During the webinar, the speakers discussed many intricacies and aspects of fleet management within this dynamic sector. Not only that, but the electrification of fleets were touched upon; in addition to its drivers, challenges, (including know-how and the products and services required), as well as the solutions behind those challenges.

Other than just taking into account its management, it was assessed from the point of view of how it is relevant to various industries and each of their players. Other challenges such as e-mobility as a whole, as well as battery life, range anxiety and refueling concerns along with Carbon Dioxide emissions were discussed. This, in contrast to the definite opportunities that exist, such as fleet financing and EV-charging infrastructure.

Towards the end, a fruitful question and answer session allowed both panellists to further their insights on the topic at hand, in response to participants productive communication – something which will definitely be continued in the upcoming networking session!

We want to thank our moderator, and our respectable speakers for their informed visions on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Ahad Zaka for distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Mobility Alliance webinar!
