SDG Alliance – Regenerative Agriculture: Feeding the World Sustainably

In today’s world, and with the negative impacts of climate change and rapid consumerism, there has arisen a need to practice sustainable farming practices to restore and enhance soil health, biodiversity, and our ecosystem resilience.

To delve deeper, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) SDG Alliance organized a webinar on July 13, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Regenerative Agriculture: Feeding the World Sustainably” in which the goal was to discover how regenerative agriculture can contribute to a more sustainable and equitable food system.

The webinar started off with a brief overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by Mr. Zain Umar, who is the coordinator of the SDG Alliance.

The panelists for today’s event were:

· Dr Dr Renuka Thakore, PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons) PIEME AFHEA, Founder of the Global Sustainable Futures,

· Mr. Pramel Kumar Gupta, Social Entrepreneur, Regenerative Agriculture, Community Engagement

In this webinar, the speakers examined the complex dynamics and challenges involved in the power of regenerative practices in addressing global food security while promoting environmental sustainability. They focused on regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, impacts on climate change as well as innovation and technology. Moreover, specific examples were given, i.e. the Indian perspective and a case study on Kenya, respectively.

In terms of outcome-based approaches, the restoration of soil health, biodiversity and a positive contribution to climate change were discussed. These, alongside scalable solutions such as the increase in plant health and crop diversity, energy systems and farm productivity, are all to attain resilient food systems and a sustainable, regenerative Agricultural industry.

The webinar proved to be a place with productive discussion and feedback. We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Zain Umar for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panellists.

Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next SDGs Alliance webinar!
