The transition to Net-Zero refers to reducing and ultimately eliminating greenhouse gas emissions to limit the negative impact of climate change. This can be achieved through a combination of measures and by synergizing our community.

To learn more about this topic, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Smart Cities Alliance organized a webinar on March 07, 2023. The topic under discussion was, “Smart Cities: Accelerating the Transition to Net-Zero”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the four panelists by our moderator, Mr. Nasrullah Ali who is a coordinator at the EU Tech Chamber.

The webinar started off with our keynote speaker, Mr. Pranav Tetali (MSc, MBA), Founder and CEO at OMNIWIND. The other three panelists were Mr. Hany Abo el Wafa, Project Leader at Urban Digital Twins, and Mr. Francesco PAPA, National Sales Director Europe at Vialytics. Last but not the least, we had Mr. Akshay Saxena, Urban Development & Climate Action Expert.

While addressing the webinar, the discussion highlighted the importance of a people-centric approach and the need for a platform to compare different cities based on Net-Zero themes to increase public awareness. The involvement of citizens in the planning and implementation of sustainable measures is crucial to the success of any sustainable transition.

Moreover, transitioning to Net-Zero in cities is a major goal that requires the involvement of various individuals and stakeholders. It requires a combination of measures and a people-centric approach to ensure the success of any sustainable transition.

A holistic approach to sustainability is necessary, and the need for a platform to compare cities based on Net-Zero themes is essential to increase public awareness and push cities towards achieving Net-Zero targets.
