Today, more than 821 million people regularly go to bed hungry, of whom 100-plus million suffer from acute hunger, largely due to man-made conflicts, climate change and economic downturns.

These are the people who will experience the unthinkable due to the economic or logistical consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the depth and breadth of hunger will increase worldwide.

The world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030. If recent trends continue, the number of people affected by hunger would surpass 840 million by 2030. A profound change of the global food and agriculture system is needed if we want to achieve the goal.

EUTEC Chamber calls for the technology forces to help drive the goal of zero hunger by innovating agriculture technology, reducing food wastage, providing more channels to share information, creating platforms, cooperating in rural infrastructure and extension services. Let us work together towards a sustainable future.
