Digital Transformation Alliance – AI & Ethics: Navigating in the Complex Challenges

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation are reshaping workplaces, boosting productivity and efficiency, but all the while reducing reliance on human labor. This brings with it concerns, nowadays especially ethical ones surrounding the use of AI in decision-making processes.

To take a closer look at this encompassing theme, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Digital Transformation Alliance organized a webinar on June 22, 2023 under the topic, “AI & Ethics: Navigating in the Complex Challenges”.

The webinar started off with a formal introduction of the panelists by Salman Tariq, the coordinator of the Digital Transformation Alliance. Marcus Wiemann, Director Partnerships & Institutional Relations of EU Tech Chamber continued by introducing EU Tech and giving a short overview of the organization.

The panelists for today’s webinar were:
·   David Redondo Diaz, Founder & CEO at Airquatic | Executive Consultant | Keynote Speaker,
·    Marie Zamecnikova, Director Marie Olivie SRL I Digital Tech & Solutions Entrepreneur.

During the webinar, the speakers began with how far AI has come, essentially transforming the digital landscape over a rapidly fast-paced 25-year timeline. This of course, has come with legal implications, regulatory challenges as well as ethical considerations. The challenges for the workforce were highlighted as one of the latter’s key points. The discussion also touched upon data privacy, especially with regards to facial recognition and data collection; ChatGPT being a prime and relevant example in the concerns for data collection and future implications.

Q&A were taken at the end of the session, after which a short summary of the webinar was captured – in essence, the need for following certain standards whilst being aware of the associated risks. The benefits of AI cannot be denied, in fact, it is important to take advantage of it as a tool for learning and instead, create value within this paradigm that we now find ourselves in.

We want to thank our respectable speakers for their informed insights on this much-needed topic. Moreover, special thanks to Mr. Salman Tariq for moderating the webinar and distributing Tree-Certificates to the panelists.
Above all, sincere thanks to all our attendees – your comments, compliments, and questions. Stay tuned for our next Digital Transformation Alliance webinar on July 20, 2023, about “Blockchain for Secure AII-Based Healthcare Data Sharing”.
