On 22nd June 2022, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Finance Alliance held a successful digital talk on the topic “NFTs Opportunities and Legal Challenges.”

Moderated by Javier Lopez, Board Member EU Tech Chamber (EUTEC), the webinar took a deep dive into NFT, its basics, its implication and how it is creating huge opportunities within the crypto world.

Discussing the legal challenges and the prospects following the recent crypto crash, key-note speaker Joanna Rindell, Blockchain and NFT Senior Legal Counsel said, “Now after this crash … I do think that it can be quite positive that we get some more regulation; that at least regulators are now reacting. I hope that they don’t react too strongly because the risk is that people that didn’t like crypto from the beginning could now see a good way to just shut it all down to be like very harsh; so to kind of go after go after it and regulate it in a way that’s unbeneficial for the growth and prosperity of it. I hope that doesn’t happen. In general, still, I think such situations might foster very better regulation.”

Talking about the future aspects of NFTs, panelist and NFT enthusiast Faruk Türk stated, “I think that NFTs could be the main driver of game economies, metaverse economies, or any kind of blockchain economy itself so that we won’t need over 5000 9000 cryptocurrencies, crypto tokens, projects and where we can really focus together with the legal aspects, with the establishment of legal rights. I think we can establish a really good economy just with NFT, so this is I think is a big challenge, but we’ll be able to make it.”

Answering several questions, the webinar unleashed NFTs’ potential to revolutionize various industries such as the industry of entertainment; media; art and sports. It also revealed the range of legal issues and challenges that come into play depending on the structure of the asset (NFT) and the intent of the parties involved.
