Sustainable and smart manufacturing offers variety of benefits that come from the efficiency and flexibility, which is made easier by digital technology. However, not many players are taking advantage of increased productivity to become future ready. Digital transformation and sustainability are often viewed as mutually exclusive.

To take a closer look at each of them and understand exactly how they can make a huge difference, the EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) Sustainable Manufacturing Alliance organized a webinar on October 11, 2022. The topic under discussion was, “How to manufacture smarter and more sustainable products?”.

The webinar started off with a short overview of the organization and a formal introduction of the panelists by Mr. Federico Gonzalez de Aledo who is the director of Advanced Manufacturing Alliance. The event was moderated by Mr. Henning vom Stein.

The three honorable panelists who joined today were, Mr. Jan Verhaeghe, General Manager at Agesia, Mr. Sascha Schwindt, Managing Director at Nanopool GmbH and Mr. Ronny Baekelant, new materials and smart production expert.

While addressing the webinar, the speakers emphasized on the manufacturing and smart production of products in order to add a sustainable value in our societies. Furthermore, they also discussed the advantages of adding sustainable models as a source for income and costs saving.

The presenters also highlighted the importance and use of big data as product development. Additionally, they also gave an in-depth analysis explaining digital transformation and sustainability through their knowledge and real-life experiences.
