China’s recent practice has proven that the Next Generation Information technology (New IT) has advantages in responding to public health challenges like the Covid-19 outbreak. Due to the three giant internet companies with global reach- Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent (BAT), and other digital companies, who are aggressively developing a multi-industry digital ecosystem that touches every aspect of consumers lives, China is capable of actively leveraging digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, blockchain, and 5G, to effectively improve the efficiency in epidemic monitoring, virus tracking, prevention, control and treatment, and resource allocation.

Meanwhile, as we all know that the new IT industry including integrated circuits and special equipment, information, and communication equipment, operating system, and industrial software, has been one of the seven Strategic Emerging Industries that the Chinese government supported in its Five-year plan.
