No country on our planet is not experiencing the effects of climate change. But as it is one planet we all are living on, every single one has to face it and hence do whatever can be done to limit the drastic effects.

This requires urgent and ambitious collective action. The European Technology Chamber´s goal is to join the forces of the key technological drivers to realize the SDGs sustainable development goals.

Just some facts (source: United Nations):

Greenhouse gas emissions are more than 50 percent higher than in 1990. Global warming is causing long-lasting changes to our climate system, which threatens irreversible consequences if we do not act. The geo-physical disaster, mankind has to face in the coming decades, is 91 percent climate-related. Hundreds o billions US dollars have to be mobilized to both adapt to climate change and invest in low-carbon development.

As of 2017 humans are estimated to have caused approximately 1.0°C of global warming above pre-industrial levels.

+ 20 cm

Sea levels have risen by about 20 cm (8 inches) since 1880 and are projected to rise another 30–122 cm (1 to 4 feet) by 2100.

The energy sector alone will create around 18 million more jobs by 2030, focused specifically on sustainable energy.

To limit warming to 1.5C, global net CO2 emissions must drop by 45% between 2010 and 2030, and reach net zero around 2050.

Climate pledges under The Paris Agreement cover only one third of the emissions reductions needed to keep the world below 2°C.

$26 trillion

Bold climate action could trigger at least US$26 trillion in economic benefits by 2030.

18 million

EUTECC Forum in Zurich

On Tuesday 28th of August, the European Technology Chamber (EUTECC) hosted another successful Forum in the beautiful city of Zurich in Switzerland. The celebratory event was held in the Haus zum Rüden in the heart of Zurich, which was built in 1348. Zurich is one of the world’s largest financial centres and home of many overseas companies. More than 70 leading technology companies from Switzerland and other parts of Europe participated in the fully booked event. EUTECC is proud to see so many technology leaders attending the event on a day full of interesting presentations, fruitful discussions and a relaxed atmosphere for networking.
